Sarah Glesk
Biography
Sarah Glesk is a dance educator, choreographer, and dancer from Spokane, WA. She has been a dance adjunct faculty member at Gonzaga University since 2013 and Whitworth University since 2018. Additionally, Sarah is a dance instructor at Spokane Ballet Studio and Artistry Motion, and guest teaches summer intensives at several studios throughout Spokane. Her areas of expertise include ballet, pointe, contemporary/modern, jazz, dance conditioning, and choreography.
Sarah earned a BFA in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts, graduating Cum Laude in 2006,
where she performed in such works as Martha Graham’s Diversion of Angels. Her professional dance experience includes performing with companies Zoe Scofield and Juniper Shuey, Alloy Dance Project, Serendip, and Vytal Movement. Sarah also co-founded the CanCan Castaways where she performed and choreographed for the Seattle-based cabaret dinner theater. She has notable choreographic features in Rising Tide, Gonzaga’s annual Spring Dance Concert, Spokane Film Project, 50 Hour Slam, and multiple music videos.
Sarah is excited to be choreographing a new work for this season’s Rising Tide, a co-production by Kindling Productions and Spokane Civic Theater which will be presented in January 2025. This extravagant 25-minute piece is a comedy featuring 17 dancers telling the story of an individual who dreams of being a runway model and explores their experience in the outlandish world of fashion design. In addition, she is the director of the Children’s Company for ODC’s production of Velveteen Rabbit, produced by Gonzaga University Performing Arts Center which will be presented in February 2025.
This fall, Sarah worked on several projects, including choreographing the ballet for the musical "Carousel" at the Spokane Civic Theatre, which opened in September. In October, she created and performed a spooky ballet piece for Kindling Dance Production's "Ghostlight," an immersive experience set in the historic Glover Mansion. She also directed one of the Gonzaga Dance Repertory Companies, where she choreographed two pieces that will be toured to local studios in the spring of 2025.
When Sarah is not choreographing, teaching, or dancing, she loves gardening, cleaning, and spending time with her family and friends!
